Christmas Events in Suffolk 2024
Suffolk is a magical time during the festive season. We’ve made a list of events planned for December: here are some of our favourites that are not to be missed while you are in Suffolk.

1. Go to Snape Maltings
There’s so much going on at Snape Maltings at Christmas time.
From Breakfast with Father Christmas to Christmas special with Laura Wright, you’ll be sure to get the festive feeling.
Get in the festive spirit with this sparkling combination of Suffolk-based artists: soaring soprano Laura Wright, choral classics from the Britten Pears Chamber Choir, and brilliant brass with The Band of the Royal British Legion, Leiston.
While you’re there, why not do some Christmas Shopping at Snape Maltings and visit the Snape Maltings Food Hall and House & Garden stores to check out their selection of decorations, trees and table settings for your Christmas celebrations.
2. Kentwell Hall’s Dickensian Christmas
This year at Kentwall Hall, enjoy Christmas in the year 1869 for a Dickensian Christmas, from December 7th- 8th & December 14-15th (weekend event only). Experience the magic of traditional Victorian Christmas at Kentwell Hall, Gardens and Grottoes around the estate.
Kentwell turns the Christmas clock back to the year 1869 and the age of Dickens to create a rich tapestry of lively and enjoyable activities for all ages.
3. Mid Suffolk Light Railway Santa Special
During the first three weekends in December, 8 trains per day will be running on the Mid Suffolk Light Railway for the 2024 Santa Specials!
Steam trains run from Brockford Station to ‘North Pole Halt’, for an individual visit to Santa at his Christmas Guards Van and each child receives a present. The Stations, Brockford and ‘North Pole Halt’ will all be decorated in full ‘Christmasy’ style. On the return from their Santa visit passengers will find Christmas crafts, hot drinks and snacks will be available to buy and for the grown-ups, a complimentary cup of festive mulled wine. The trip to see Santa will last approximately 35 minutes.
4. Lowestoft Christmas Lights Switch On
The Lowestoft Christmas Lights Switch On is happening on November 30th, from 14:00 - 18:00.
If you're looking for a free event packed with festive cheer, this is the perfect family outing. Plus, it’s conveniently close to North Denes Caravan Park and Broadlands Park & Marina,
5. Ride the lights at the East Anglia Transport Museum
Head to the East Anglia Transport Museum during the first 3 weekends of December to Ride the Lights! Join in the Christmas cheer for seasonal tram, trolleybus and train rides in Lowestoft, close to Broadlands Park & Marina and North Denes Caravan Park.
6. CHRISTMAS PANTO IN LOWESTOFT
What says Christmas more than a Panto? This year’s pantomime at the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft is Beauty and the Beast, featuring X factor Stevi Ritchie as Gaston!
You can catch Beauty and the Beast at various times from Tuesday 10th December until their last performance on New Years Day!
