Caravanning with Shane Richie - series 1
This travelogue mini series from Channel 5 featuring Shane Richie, best known for his character ‘Alfie Moon’ in Eastenders, takes his friends and family on a quest to show them and the viewers what caravan holidays are all about, changing out-dated misconceptions of what a caravan or lodge is actually like in the modern day. He chats to holiday home owners and holiday guests, finding out their individual stories and reasons for choosing a lodge or caravan break at the UK coastline.
“We’ve got all these fantastic places on our doorsteps in the UK so I thought it would be great to give a bit of a personal insight and offer some tips and share my own experiences. We’d always stay in either chalets or little static caravans which were very different back then. I remember the curtains never met in the middle, the doors never seemed to fit the frames properly and you had those toilets that you had to pump to make them flush! Happy days! It was the sense of community and the freedom as a kid you had on site that I loved the most.’’ - Shane Richie
