Snapping your Suffolk holiday home or getting creative on a Great Yarmouth golf course. When it comes to taking photos of your UK holidays don’t just dial it in. Think about a camera instead of your smartphone.
Holiday homes by the sea are perfect subjects
Right now they are a great subject for discussion. Your own UK holiday home by the sea has never been a better idea. It makes financial sense, it reduces your carbon footprint because you’ll travel less by air and it’s a fantastic way to spend holiday time with your family and friends. A holiday home by the sea is a wonderful place to snap the shots that will capture those times forever. So why not put a little more thought into how you take your holiday snaps? A smartphone does a lot of things and, realistically, its camera will be pretty good. But when it really comes to taking decent pictures a digital camera still has the edge. Absolutely on the cutting edge as a beginner’s camera, and a really compact one too, is the Olympus OM-D E- M10 Mark IV. It’s small enough to take anywhere, but don’t be fooled by its size. It’s powerful.
Suffolk chalets or Lincolnshire caravans - give them your best shot
A digital camera gives you more control. It allows you to adjust things like shutter speed and aperture. You don’t have to become professional photographer overnight. You just need to embrace a few tips. From a Suffolk holiday home to a Lincolnshire caravan, wherever you spend your leisure time, you can make the most of making images when you have the added photographic features that come with a camera. You can change the lens, you can use a zoom lens, and you make more allowances for light. Lenses are an important point. As good as they are the lenses ‘phones are very small and usually made of plastic. A camera lens will almost certainly be made of glass or multiple glass elements. A ‘phone lens can do a lot, but it won’t allow you to shoot from the side lines to capture fast action moments. Because, be honest, even the most chilled holidays will have a game, a theme park ride or some mad moments on the beach. You can get your best shot with a digital camera. As an entry level DSLR the Nikon D3500 is scoring lots of points just now. Easy controls, and a ‘Guide’ mode that’s fully interactive make it very easy to handle. And it’s compatible with a wide rage of Nikon lenses.
Look for the wildlife on Woodland walks by the Waveney River Centre
Wherever you are just look around you. Not everybody is gong to take award winning wildlife photos. It’s a fact. But, with a fairly simple digital camera it’s possible to take pictures of the trees, plants, birds and creatures you encounter on a holiday stroll. Beach or woodland it’s just a matter of looking around, and having a means of making a meaningful image. A digital camera is not necessarily a big piece of kit. If you want lots of accessories you can collect a bag full of them; make a real hobby of photography. Or, take a simple camera with a single lens and learn how to frame, compose and shoot the shots you’ll want to keep. There’s something else too. Taking a picture of a flower, for example, or a bee, or a bird. It works better if you can keep the beautiful bloom or tiny creature, in focus in the foreground and let the background go soft. That background/foreground thing is something you can do much better with a camera. ‘Phones just don’t do it as well. It’s not at the budget end of the spectrum but the Sony Cyber-shot RX10 IV comes highly recommended for wildlife and nature photography.
UK holidays make marvellous memories
They just do. Where else can you be your best self and live your best life than in the best place to holiday with the people who matter most to you? The simpler things in life are back in our focus now. Time spent together, time away from everyone else is time to treasure. On the subject of time, think about battery life. Take pictures all day on your ‘phone and the battery goes down fast. A camera battery tends to last longer. And it makes your phone battery last longer - because you’re not using your phone. Do it. Stow the phone in your pocket and put it on silent. It will do you good to put the emails, texts and news flashes on hold while you focus on taking time out. And taking pictures. Because here's something to think about. A phone can be camera. Sort of. But a camera is a camera, not a phone. For sure.
Lodges for sale - snap one up
Owning your own UK seaside holiday home is something that more and more people are considering. More and more people are actually doing it. There are lodges for sale in Suffolk, static caravans for sale in Lincolnshire and holiday homes available near golf courses in Great Yarmouth. Because there’s less travel (and yes, that means less hassle) involved you get more time to do the things that matter. Things like simply taking a stroll. Or just chilling at your own place; and your own pace. As a holiday experience it’s seriously laid back. If you want to stay in the laid back mode think about a very simple laid back camera. Firmly in the ‘point and shoot’ category is the Canon PowerShot Elph 180. Super value for money it’s actually quite a stylish accessory in itself. Snapping up a UK holiday home makes real sense. Snapping shots of your time there is wonderful way to build beautiful memories.
